My house is 1973 tri-level home with a crawl space under the lowest level with attached garage, exposed walls in crawl space face SSW and WNW. The space to finish is approximately 500 square feet with interior access through the basement. The walls are not insulated and there is no vapor barrier that I can tell. I recently blew R60 level into attic and the heater runs less resulting in the tiled lower room (above crawl space) to be cold. I am considering heat source in the fireplace but know that the insulation will be a better investment for energy saving. I am on a limited budget so I may not be able to afford the Cadillac job but maybe we can talk Ford. Thanks.
