This year fast mountain snowmelt, and rising river waters including wild May weather made for a wet month in the metro Denver area.

Memorial Day marked a high-point in water levels as a rapid snowmelt began to come off area mountains. The week was followed with hard rains that taxed area rivers and started flooding lowlands. Denver's International Airport saw a funnel cloud with hail form while planes were landing nearby.

By mid-June many of Colorado's rivers, including Cherry Creek and the Cache La Poudre rivers, were flowing at 2 to 3 times their normal capacity for the month with more rain on the way. Metro Denver residents were on the look-out for flash flooding.
